INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP FOR YOUNG APPRENTICES: GREAT EXPERIENCES THAT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET

8. September 2021 | Insights

A report from our trainee:

As part of my apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, I decided to start an additional training in European business administration. I recommend it to every trainee. I was encouraged by my company right from the beginning, VETTER Industrie GmbH endeavors to support trainees as best as possible and offers them professional and good career prospects. So, I had the chance to complete an internship abroad at our subsidiary VETTER Industria Ibérica as part of my additional training in European business administration. I didn’t hesitate for long and immediately decided to do it.

Because of my one-year student exchange in Argentina in 2014, I had no fears or concerns about the Spanish language.

Our subsidiary VETTER Industria Ibérica is based in Vigo. Here I lived alone in an apartment close to the city center. The city offers a lot of restaurants and cafeterias, everything can easily be reached on foot. VETTER Industria Ibérica was only a 35-minute walk from my apartment.

On my first day at work, I was warmly welcomed by my colleagues Carlos (Sales Manager) and Andrea (Customer Support). They explained everything to me about VETTER Industria Ibérica. I felt very comfortable right away.

My tasks consisted of writing offers and orders, entering and calculating prices and supporting Carlos and Andrea in their day-to-day business. In general, the work does not differ too much from the work in Germany. I was also able to attend two business meetings with customers, which was very interesting and exciting.

My Spanish colleagues took great care of me, supported me in planning my activities and helped me to make my weeks in Spain as pleasant as possible. For example, on one weekend I visited the island of Cíes and one evening we enjoyed dinner at the port.

Although Andrea speaks fluent German, we only spoke Spanish during my entire stay, as this helped me to refresh my Spanish skills and to expand my vocabulary.

I am very grateful that VETTER made this internship possible for me and that I could gain a lot of useful experience for the future.
