Implemented norms and restrictions

PROTECT claddings are certified according to Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) for component group II, category 2, danger by G-gas and D-dust (II 2 GD). The following norms and guidelines are implemented.

  • 2014/34/EU: Legal requirements: components for designated use in ex-proof areas
  • 2006/42/EG: Machinery directive
  • EN13463-1: Non-electrical components for the use in ex-proof areas
  • DIN EN 1755: Safety of lift trucks for use in ex-proof areas with combustible gases, steems, hazes and dust

PROTECT claddings for ex-proof areas

Forks in ex-proof areas need to fulfill special requirements. The danger of explosion is always given when a mixture of air and combustible gases or dust results in an explosive atmosphere. In this case, only a very small spark may cause an explosion. For this reason, the corresponding forklifts and also forks need to fulfill high safety specifications.

Using PROTECT claddings made by VETTER, you are on the safe side. High class workmanship!

Ex-proof claddings are made of 4 mm sheets of brass or partly also stainless steel. The inner heel section is always accessible to allow the regular statutory crack inspection of forks.

DuplEx - the best ex-proof fork

According to EN 1755 forks in ex-proof areas neet to be renewed as soon as cladding is reduced to minimum 1 mm thick. As wear limit could not be determined visibly until now, regular resp. daily measurement became necessary. However, these examinations are time-consuming and require special tools and expertise.

This is the essential benefit of DuplEx claddings. The forks is cladded using 2 different materials:

1 mm inner cladding at the underside of fork
4 mm outer cladding of the complete fork blade

By using materials of different colours (brass and stainless steel), wear can be immediately determined at a glance. A real plus in safety and convenience.

PROTECT claddings made of brass or stainless steel are designed as fixed cladding of fork blade and / or fork back. There is no cladding in the inner heel section (1) to allow for inspection of forks.

Materials: Brass (2.0321) or stainless steel (1.4301)

Cladding thickness approx. 4 mm: Total increase of fork section (width and thickness) by approx. 10 mm each.

In the food or chemical industry, hygiene is of highest priority. Forks with stainless steel cladding are essential for this application!

Stainless steel claddings offer an easy to clean, acid-resistance surface to meet highest hygiene requirements and guarantee effective protection against dirt and bacteria.

Durability of cladding is significantly increased by a sheet thickness of
4 mm stainless steel. Smooth edgings guarantee that the transported goods will not be damaged.

Important: The heel area of the basic fork is always accessible to allow the regular statutory crack inspection of forks.
